Young Artists Bring Christmas to Life at State-Level Kids Drawing Event in Chennai
With the joy of Christmas, creativity, and childhood imagination, the State Level Kids Drawing
and Handwriting Competition 2025 was successfully held on December 28 at Decathlon,
Nolambur, Chennai. Kalam Sports Academy organised the event under the Christmas Kids
Carnival banner. Many of the young participants across the state are transforming the venue
into a gallery of colours, ideas and festive cheers.
The competition saw enthusiastic participation from students from pre-kg to class 12, making it
one of the most inclusive state-level art events for school children to nurture creativity.
A Celebration of Art, Expression and the Christmas Spirit
On Sunday morning, the event embraced the festive theme of “Shades of Indian Christmas,”
encouraging children to celebrate through their own cultural lens. Each artwork featured
traditional Christmas trees, Santa Claus illustrations, snowmen, and gift boxes, reflecting the
unique blend of creativity and expression.
Many of the young artists were immersed in choosing colours, using their creativity, as teachers,
parents and volunteers watched with pride. The event atmosphere was vivacious as the
children, seated with crayons, colour pencils and sketch pens, were fully absorbed in the
creative process.
Well-Structured Categories Across Age Groups
The competition was divided into different categories, with the event starting at 10:00 am and
the reporting time starting at 9:30 am for younger participants. Colouring (Printed Chart) for
Pre-KG, LKG and UKG students to showcase their creativity through colours. As students from
class 1 and class 2 illustrated the theme of snowmen, class 3 and 4 worked with deer and bells.
Older categories analysed more detailed compositions, including Santa with Christmas Tree for
Classes V and VI, Santa with Deer for Classes VII and VIII, and Christmas Tree themes for
Classes IX to XII. Each category was timed and supervised to ensure participants and the
environment remained calm while completing their artwork.
Encouraging Creativity Beyond Competition
Medals were awarded for recognised excellence; organisers emphasised that the primary
objective was to encourage artists' confidence. Judges evaluated entries based on the creativity,
colour harmony, and the given theme, appreciating the effort of every participant. By recognising
all the participants with certificates and medals, the event conveys that participation and
creative exploration are just as important as winning.
